Employees of RigUp – Ashley Kus, Customer Success Representative

RigUp’s mission is to empower the men & women who power the world. Fulfilling this mission would not be possible without our stellar team.

Today RigUp is highlighting one of our hard working customer success team representatives, Ashley Kus.

What is your role at RigUp?

I’m a member of our Customer Success team.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Similar to the oilfield, I would say RigUp doesn’t have a typical day. It’s ever-changing depending on our clients’ needs. Most of my days include heading out to field offices or headquarters to demonstrate how RigUp can provide value to our clients and teaching folks how to use our platform so they can cut the paper-pushing and inefficient processes out of their work day and focus on what’s important.

Why do you enjoy working in the oil and gas industry?

I grew up in a small town on a farm, and later moved on to the automotive industry for a few years, and now I’ve found myself in oil & gas. It’s become clear to me that I have a passion to work alongside the people that I respect most, that are the hardest workers I know and aren’t afraid to wake up before the sun. Luckily for me, I get to work with those people every single day, whether I’m in the office downtown Austin or traveling through West Texas.

What are 3 words to describe RigUp?

Family; transparent; dedicated.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love that with my job I am able to be transparent and honest about what RigUp offers and what we can do to help. There’s never gray area or hidden details, it’s just straight-up, this is how we can make your life easier. I truly believe in what we do and that it’s better than anything out there, and that is what makes me excited to get to work each morning.

What is your proudest moment (or moments) at RigUp?

I’m proud of the relationships I’ve made the past nine months here. The people I talk with every day are truly a joy to hear from and it goes deeper than just the services that we provide.

Why do you recommend more people switch to RigUp?

Switching to RigUp goes beyond just making more money. RigUp is easier, faster, WAY more transparent, and I’m willing to argue – more friendly than what anyone else out there is offering.

Ashley is one of the many hard working employees at RigUp. The RigUp team agrees with Ashley, that we enjoy working here because we are “able to be transparent and honest about what RigUp offers and what we can do to help. There’s never gray area or hidden details, it’s just straight-up, this is how we can make your life easier.”

RigUp Rides BP MS150

Last year, I took the plunge on a 150 mile bike ride when I first rode the MS150 and joined on with RigUp’s team. From the bonds we made while training to the tangible impact of our donations to the worst butt pain I have ever felt, I couldn’t have possibly asked for more. The MS150 was one of the best experiences I’ve been fortunate enough to partake in, and when team RigUp saddles up again this April, we’ll be riding for that same experience again. The MS150 community is one that welcomes participation and embraces the hard work and dedication of its members for a vital cause, and that’s why I can’t wait to ride again this year.

Every year, 13,000 cyclists, 3,500 volunteers, and countless spectators and donors to partake in the MS150 with the goal of funding research for multiple sclerosis and the ongoing hunt for a cure. This year will be no different as the foundation aims high for $14 million dollars of fundraising in the constant battle against this degenerative disease. More than 400,000 Americans have MS alone, which means that most of us have been touched by somebody with MS in our lives, making this ride personal for a lot of us. Team RigUp alone has several members who have been affected by the disease. Together, we will ride to support our friends, family and the families of our oilfield partners. I know I can speak for all of us when I say we are excited and ready for this year’s trip.

I ride the MS150 with the most unlikely supporters of this ride in mind. Truth be told, not everyone can ride, but everyone can find a way to care about our mission. That means there are plenty of people along the way to Austin that are ready to show their support. While I may be riding this year, these folks are definitely way more creative than me. On the way into Austin, you’ll find countless friendly faces from spectators along the route, and the police officers directing traffic are among the most enthusiastic of our supporters as well. While there are MS sponsored rest stops with countless volunteers, we even ran into some families with their own homemade rest stops last year. Even more than that, a few spectators last year even stopped along the side of the road in small-town Texas just to set up a huge speaker set, dancing to pop and soul hits as the riders go by. The same spectators even came back for more on day two later to keep the rhythm going.

One memory that sticks with me is that the ride for the MS150 passes through Fayetteville Texas. Pulling into this small town with less than 300 people, you might not think twice – unless you’re passing through during the MS150. Passing through Fayetteville, you’ll see a gathering in the town square celebrating the event, full of bubble machines, dancing residents, and upbeat music.  You’ll see dozens of people sitting out on their lawns to thank the riders all day long. It feels like you must be seeing every resident in the town. Coming from Houston, this small town vibe feels like absolute magic to me, and reminds me of why we ride, why we donate, and why we participate.

After all, the MS150 is way more than a bike ride. Every year companies like RigUp, donors, riders, and administrators do their best to push MS research forward and find a cure, because that’s what this community engenders. Whether you ride for someone you know or just for the aim to be a part of something more, the embodiment of teamwork on this ride is unlike anything I’ve personally experienced. After this year’s training, fundraising and preparation, I can’t wait to pull into the Circuit of the Americas outside Austin to complete our journey. I can’t wait to see the volunteers and riders who make this possible year round. More than that, I can’t wait to see Fayetteville, where we’re reminded of all the team members and supporters we might never see if not for this truly remarkable ride.

RigUp’s 2016 Year in Review

We started RigUp over two years ago to build the premier marketplace for oilfield services. Our product began as a mobile app for the field and has grown into the best-in-class procurement, compliance, and vendor management solution for the upstream industry.

We believe that through technology, E&P companies and service providers can connect and execute operations more efficiently and effectively. Proper stewardship means a safer environment and American energy independence. Over 150 E&Ps believe in our mission and goal and we are grateful for their support.

In 2017, we will continue to enhance our product offering to meet the needs of our users – some new features include streamlining the MSA process, eliminating the industry’s outdated “procure-to-pay” workflow, and ensuring 100% environmental and safety compliance across the service provider network. Clients have asked and we’ll continue to deliver. Look out for roll-outs of features that simplify the procurement of integrated services. We’re ready to show off our launch of bundled and packaged solutions utilizing various work scopes within a project.

It’s been a year of hard work for our team but the successes have been well worth it. Here are some highlights from the past year. We look forward to delivering you our very best in 2017 – stay tuned!

The Startup Stew

There is no silver bullet for starting a successful company. People who seem to have everything right on paper often end up giving up on their startup dreams. Conversely, there are those special few who, by a combination of luck and talent, end up creating some of the most successful companies in the world.

Despite the lack of a perfect recipe, there are a few crucial ingredients to the startup stew. First, every startup company needs 1456128204_cauldroman idea – something that has never been done before, or never done the right way. The right idea is the foundation for every business that has ever succeeded.

But a good idea doesn’t mean a single thing if it just remains an idea. It must be cultivated by people with the perfect mix of passion and drive. It isn’t enough to simply believe in your game changing idea. You need to have the drive to make it happen. To do the hard thing and get it done – that is what sends ripples through the market.

Thirdly, your idea must meet a need. Mind reading cell phones may be the most groundbreaking technology to date but if it doesn’t create real solutions for real people, it will not have a lasting impact. On the other hand, if intricately hand crafted dog biscuits fill a gap left in the market they can seize the success that evades so many others.

RigUp was founded on the basic idea that the oil and gas industry has room for evolution. Taking existing technology and providing a place for E&P’s to find service companies in a simple convenient way is the idea that fuels us. Beyond that, we are driven and hard-working. I am impressed every day at the dedication that all of my co-workers have to building a company that solves real problems.

And that is what we are all about.
